I bought this machine several years ago. I finally had the time to get it out and test it. It was locked up due to not being used for years. Industrial Cover Stitch Machine Binder Demo

This is just a very quick demo on using a binder on an Industrial Cover Stitch Machine using a binder attachment. It demonstrates how easy it is the line it up and once it is lined up you are ready to start your binding. Of course I didn't take the time to ensure my tension was correct before I captured this, but it demonstrates my point. The difference between an Industrial Machine vs. a Domes...

    Kevin, you are amazing at teaching us how to do this stuff with our own machines! I had a problem awhile back with my upper and lower tensions and managed to find a groove in the needle plate. I filed it smoother with a metal nail file and it did ok but I was still having a problem with jamming so I ordered a new plate finally. THEN I lost one of the screws trying to replace the needle plate! SO, I began to take the machine apart to find that screw. I kinda tilted it upside down and back and forth before I did that. But I quit hearing it move around so I took it apart. I had not seen this video yet. I only saw the one showing how to service the machine. I ended up finding the online service manual and downloaded it to help me figure things out. It helped a lot except it didn’t show where and what kind of screws go back where. After I took that free arm slab thing off, I thought I would never get it back on but I finally managed to miraculously do it! Now I see you address removing that part in this video! However, I’m finding that I am missing a few screws (in more ways than machine wise! Hehe). So I am writing this long winded comment to ask if I am able to order replacement screws anywhere before I take this free arm slab off again to do the adjustments you describe here? My upper thread is not catching at all or even trying to catch. IT just spins around and around when I turn the handwheel. So I will try to be patient and see if you’re able to let me know if and where I can possibly order replacement screws. Either that or maybe I should buy another new machine? I already bout a singer 1500 that I dont like at all. If I take it back they will charge me to rebox and for Re shelving. I have people I can sell it to or give it to cuz I don’t like it at all. It makes me LOVE my HD 4423!

    the footswitch that came with my 4423 does have the pot but adjusting it only slows down the start just slightly. it's not same as having a 6800C with speed control. i've been using variable speed current control to achive somewhat slower speed at fully pressed pedal. again not as good as built in speed control that slows the speed completely at maximum foot pedal pressure.

      With your foot down pull on the thread through the needle. If the tension is correct the needle should bend slightly while the thread passing through the eye of the needle. If this is good then we need to look at what is going on with the bobbin tension. Here is a link to a video I created on how to do this: ua-cam.com/video/8TPB2yzw-1Y/v-deo.htmlsi=0m7JrIa6EkeYlxsG

    • @kevinsews
      @kevinsews 2 місяці тому

      The bobbin tension shows if the top thread is pulled to the middle point of the fabric. If your top thread has loose loops then tighten the bobbin tension. Thing of it as a tug & war between the thread tension and the bobbin tension. The goal is the make it a draw match.
